jeff standley created the topic: Rotax model # question
Hello,I have a rotax 2 stroke engine sitting in my shop from when my father had ultralights and lastly an airbike. I have no idea what model it is or age. Where on the motor would I find a model number? I have found what looks to be a serial number, 6910415?

any help would be appreciated.

Rotax uses a 7 digit serial number so 6910415 is probably correct. but that serial number is not an aircraft engine. Maybe a snowmobile engine?

are model numbers stamped on a block or anything? This motor was used on an airbike but I am sure if it wasn't supposed to be it wouldn't be the first time it happened.

No, only the data tag.
For sure it would not be the 1st time but it is still a bad idea; the snowmobile engine has the wrong power curve for propeller use. Just when you need it most (go-around) it will be off its power curve and instead of the power you urgently need it will bog down. Learn from mistakes of others, don't repeat them.

Thank you. I have no intention of using it for anything, I just need to know what it is so I can get rid of it!
