2010, 100 hp uls with about 800 hours. Tried to start this morning and got serious kickback every time I tried to start. I fly 2-3 times a week. Engine always starts and runs smooth. Carbs sync'ed in last 10-12 hours. Carb bowls have gas in them. Fuel tanks full with fresh autogas.

With both mags off, prop turns fast and smooth - no engine firing. With one mag on, prop turns fast and smooth - no engine firing. With both mags on, prop turns with serious kick backs.

Suggestions?

Put a gallon ice bag around the ignition modules for 30 min. then try and start it. If it cranks right up buy a pair of new ignition modules. Try this first as it is a cheap and easy diagnostic check.

Have you tried the Roger's suggestion Tony or solved your problem in other way?

Yep, Patrick, I tried the ice bag. It seemed to point that an electric ignition module was bad. I put two new modules in and the engine started fine. Note Lockwood Aviation has a module tester and I have heard they will test your modules for free. The modules are $1000.00 each
