Good afternoon
My gearbox housing is damaged, and it will take some time for the replacement to arrive. Does anyone know, or is it written somewhere, if it's possible to continue flying until the replacement arrives?
Thank you.

Thank you.
In the SB it states:
1.5) Compliance
- On stored engines / spare parts: prior to delivery.
- On delivered engines / spare parts: before the initial installation, but not later than January 31st
2026.
- On already installed engines (up to 800 hours of operation) / spare parts: at the next scheduled
maintenance event carry out this inspection and/or replacement of the crankcase and gearbox
housing according to the following instructions in section 3, but at the latest after 1 year (from
the date of the initial issue of this Service Bulletin).
- On already installed engines (with more than 800 hours of operation) / spare parts: at the next
scheduled maintenance event but at latest within the next 50 hours of operation carry out this
inspection and/or replacement of the crankcase and gearbox housing according to the following
instructions in section 3, but at the latest after 1 year (from the date of the initial issue of this
Service Bulletin).
1.6) Approval
The technical content of this document is approved under the authority of the DOA ref.
EASA.21J.048.
Non-compliance with these instructions could result in engine damages,
personal injuries or death
This would then make your engine not airworthy if you fly it once you know it failed, in my opinion.
Cheers

My 912iSC engine serial number is not on the list, however my gear box part number is on the list. Do I need to test the gear box only then? Testing the GB is much easier than the engine, which requires substantial disassembly to get to the surface to test.
Secondly, I have been unable to find the recommended hardness tester. Can you recommend a suitable substitute?

Hi Patrick
Please provide your engine S/N, and we will double-check it against the SB to be sure. If your engine S/N is not on the list and the gearbox is original to your engine, then you don't have to perform the hardness test.
The P/N hasn't changed, so if you only go by that, every gearbox would be affected.
That's why the S/N matters most.
