Wrong direction for the prop

Wrong direction for the prop was created by Wims
During shut down I had the prop turning half to one turn in the wrong direction. Some advice?

what is your shut-down RPM? maybe it is too high and you have a lot of unburnt fuel causing a dieseling effect?

I would be surprised if half a turn did any harm. The engine clearly is not designed to be operated in the opposite direction, that's for sure. Also it is not recommended to manually turn it the opposite direction. One reason for that may be that the oil supply cycle is one way only. And we don't want air bubbles in the oil cycle. But half a turn or even one turn in the wrong direction when stopping the engine completely should do no harm. I am close to guessing here and will follow this thread to see what the experts know from field experience.

Your shut-down RPM seems a bit high. As I recall, ROTAX suggests idling @ 1,800 RPM to stabilize cooling and then shut down one mag and then the next. I can't recall ever having my 912 ULS kick-back during shut-down.

2000 is a tad high for shut down. Try 1650-1700 next time and see if that helps. Also if you can turn one mag off for a few seconds then the second one.
