This is just an off-the-wall question about quantifying under the cowl temperatures. I'm sure it varies a lot, but does anyone have any general guidance as to what is considered "normal" or what would be considered "too hot?"

Messured the temp difference OAT vs. under the cowl on a C42 microlight with a 912 installed. The difference was only a couple of degrees during flight and far less than I had guessed. The temp underneath the cowl really only rose significantly when the bird was parked with the hot engine turned off cause there was no proper air flow anymore.
If urgently needed I can pull the data from a hard disk...

My under cowl temps are 36°C when OAT is 22°
Is this a problem?
