914 turbo

Category: General Tech Discussion 4 months ago
I was recently flying with another aircraft that experienced fuel starvation and was required to fly for ten to fifteen minutes at WOT which only produced about 4000rpm, it was necessary to maintain altitude to reach a safe landing area.
My concern is that the engine being a 914 and knowing there is a maximum time allowed on turbo, would this scenario have caused any damage?

The Throttle position (WOT) is irrelevant.
You are limited to 5 minutes above 5500rpm and 35" MAP. (115% Power)
Any setting below 5500/35 is called Continuous Power. (100%)

You can fly at 4000 rpm and 25" MAP until the fuel runs out. (~50%)
Review the 914 operators manual Page 5-4.
