The 912ULS installation manual shows the drainage hose for the mechanical fuel pump as 6mm "Outside Diameter" (see attachment) ...  Is this correct?  The diameter of the straight section of the hose barb on the fuel pump (after the lip) is 6mm....  I have some rubber hose that fits very well (tight) and it is 6mm "Inside Diameter"... I thought hoses were usually specified by the I.D.?  Comments?

Thanks,

Mike

Hi Roger, I recall seeing one of your posts that suggests a routing for the engine-driven fuel pump drain hose, but I can't find it.  I think you said route it over the #1 and #3 cylinders to the firewall and then down?  I have some high-temperature rubber hose (see attached specs) that I was planning to use for this drain.  Questions: The hose is rated at 338°F.  Should I place this inside fire sleeve?  If the hose is routed below the #1 and #3 cylinders, t looks to be a challenge to attach the hose so that it does not vibrate/chafe.  Suggestions?  Thanks Roger.

I have run my fuel pump drain hose below the cylinders and elected to terminate the end in a home made catch can, secured near the bottom of the firewall. The catch can is open to ambient pressure.

I have only protected the hose from heat, where it passes close to the exhaust system.

Catch Can reasoning is simple: I want to see any fuel leaking from the pump, as this may indicate an imminent failure. The catch can is checked at each pre-flight inspection (175 hrs no fuel, very very small amount of crankcase oil).
