Hello guys
I have a 912 UL, and it's been running great. Good power, temps on analogue guages within limits.
I installed a grand rapids EIS 4000 with fuel flow,2 cht, 4 EGT ,oil temp , RPM, etc.

EGT probes are about 3 inches from the cylinder after a bend.

I set all the warnings on the EIS roughly, and everything seems to work well, within my expectations.

The issue is I get egt warning at 2460 rpm, 1421 rpm.
Left rear warmest cyc, 40 degrees max diff at this power setting. I didn't want to go beyond this RPM due high EGT.. that said it's been running great at Max RPM during the last 30 hours.

This engine is 250 hours old, to which I have only been the owner for 30 of these hours.
It makes good power, runs smoothly with great performance... Not a single symptom that would lead me to think it's running lean.

Look forward to your opinions..
Best

Did you mean 1421°F at 2460 rpm?
    The 912UL is good for 880°C (1616°F).

Cylinder #4 (Left Rear) will always run slightly hotter due to the extra airflow obstructions in the area.
Look at a #4 Plug to confirm you are not running lean.

Any chance the EIS thinks you have Type-K thermocouples when Type-J are installed?

Thanks, yes 1421F at 2460. I have read the instructions lots and don't see where I could change the thermocouple setting. I will re set the max EGT alarm and run it to max power and confirm the EGT. Thanks very much .

Do you have a set of Manuals?
See page 2.2 of the Operators Manual for the EGT Limits.

2460 RPM is just a high idle setting.
You should be nowhere near redline even if you were running lean.

The Thermocouple settings ar probably correct especially if the probes were supplied with the EIS as a package.
Type-J will display about 20% hotter if using a Type-K calibration.
I had to throw that out there just to be thorough.

    Update..

FLew the plane for one circuit today.. The EIS is working , Everything is running great, but the EGT was higher than I expected. The hot Cyl was 1559 deg F. Field elevation 3000feet, about 17 degress C. I am not sure of the needle position, but was thinking I would run it hard for a circuit, shut it down, check the plugs, and drop the needle one position? Or if I am not exceeding the max egt, just fly it...

Again, no issues prior to putting the EIS in, all that is happening here is I can see whats going on... THe probes are about 3 inched from the cylinder .

    Thanks guys..
