Radiator deposits was created by fly2sky
Dear,

I am using custom radiator with my Rotax 914. Since it is without suffix 01, so I am using EVANS NPG PLUS. Its flight hours are around 2 hrs. Today when I opened pressure cap of radiator after 30 mins of flight I found white gray sludge in my radiator neck and on pressure cap as shown in picture in the attachment.

I don't know why and how it happened as I never found this type of material in cooling system of my old aircrafts and other aircrafts of flying club using rotax with waterless coolant.

Expert opinion is requested.

Regards

Sure looks like silicates, but Evans doesn't have silicates. Certainly some other contaminate. I would flush the system and pull the radiator off and flush it good to. I would not be using Evans any longer. It isn't recommended. It also carries a 20-30F heat penalty with it. Water does a much better job of absorbing and releasing heat.

Is this a 2 hr. old engine or a lot more hours?

Before you added Evans did you use their flush to get any water that the factory used before you put the Evans in?

Oil mixing with coolant.
head seal may be checked.
Foam formation is because of oil.
