951 engine no spark. How to identify engine year of manufacture

I picked up Seadoo Rotax 947/951 engine from someone who did not know what year it was out of but he was told it was in good running condition when pulled. I got it cheap so I took a chance it would work for my 2001 GTX . After getting it installed, I get no spark from either coil. The first thing I wanna check is compatibility because I know the flywheels changed after 1998. The engine I pulled from the 2001 GTX had no S/N plate but the one I just put in does and that number is M5899492. I went to the flyrotex website and the search produced no results. Can anyone on here tell me manufacture year by this S/N or is there any other way I can identify the engine year without pulling the engine. I just want to be sure it’s compatible for a 2001 GTX before I dig deeper into my no spark issue. Thanks to anyone who can help me out.
