my question is

i am about to do a service call for a 582 avid flyer

can i use brand new urethane fuel hose for my routing from the tank to the pump and down to carburator
its a 1/4 id blue line
my point is can this hose is safe under a close cowling ?
because the heat around the engine is greater then a open engine

thanks  stephane

    Hi Stephane,

I have used the blue urethane under the cowling with no problems. I prefer the automotive type in hot environments though. the 1/4" 30R6 or 30R7 fuel line is available in any auto parts house and is the same stuff that lasts for many years under automobile hoods. It is also ethanol resistant and costs about the same as urethane hose.

    Hi Stephane,

I'm with Bill. I believe in using standard fuel hose. I have seen too many of the urethane hoses get hard and crack especially in the winter when the lines are so cold and the vibration shakes them and cracks them. The standard rubber fuel hose will handle more stress, temp extremes and fuel additives than the other.

Bottom line: You would be safer and have more piece of mind with standard fuel hose.
