okay, I finally got the cable connected by disconnecting the carb cables and it freed up enough space to push the brass connector out of the aluminum tube. Having said that, now I need to make the adjustments.
When I push the throttle foreward and then pull back the carbs make the adjusment or slide up and down, but the oil pump lever doesn't return to the idle position.
    Any help is welcome
    Thanks

    james,

If it is a new oil pump cable, you may need to oil the cable with a very lightweight or preferably a graphite based oil. Second, make sure you have no sharp bends in the cable sheath. Third, check the coil spring at the base of the pump lever. If it is not wound tightly enough, it won't have enough tension to return the lever to its normally closed position.

Can I adjust the spring on the oil pump?

    James,

The spring just may be installed wrong. If you take the nut off the pump lever and remove the lever, you can twist the spring enough to add more tension. I wouldn't try to actually bend the spring. Usually winding it just a little tighter does the trick.

Well, one more wind on the spring distorted the spring and I had to find another spring. So, I still have trouble with connections. I just learned that I can diconnect the cable to the oil pump and safety wire the pump level in the up position and line up the dot on the lever to the line on the pump and get 50:1 oil injection all the time regardless on the throttle postion.
I am reading on other forums that the oil pump injector on a Roatax 582 is unreliable and many fail. The opinion from this forum is take off the oil pump injector and use premix gas.
