Posting for a friend with a gyroplane
I've been having some issues with my 532 with 2 bing 54s. It has flow fine for a few years, and through about 100 crow hops I have made through out the past few months, but now it seems to not want to give me my 6250 static RPMs. I got the RPMs up to 6200-6300 this past wednesday, but when I tried it today, it would only give my about 6000 for a minute or so, then drop to around 5700. If I pulled the throttle back and then back to full, it would drop to about 4700.
Since my EGTs were only showing around 925 ish I dropped the needle down one notch and the brought the heat up a little, but the rPMs were still lacking. I then changed the needle jets from 174 to 172 and the rpms dropped even more. I brought the needle back up to the "stock" position and still only got 5700-5900.
The throttle response is horrible also. If I push too fast it will just bog and die. I've been reading tons of bing tuning stuff and its all starting to drive me nuts.
Is there something I'm missing? Is there a step by step article about engine/prop tuning on a 532/582?

    Is your air filters clean?

Do you have a hand primer pump.

    Nick.

There is not enough information here to make a good diagnosis but this is something you might want to check. Not knowing what you have to supply fuel pressure to the carbs I will assume you have the round Mikuni diaphragm pump and an electric pulse pump. Should the diaphragm in the Mikuni be failing the supplied pressure from the pulse pump will force fuel through the impulse line to the crankcase and cause a rich running condition.

    Hi all,
Just registered here. This is my engine in question. I only have a round manual pulse pump and it seems to supply fuel very well. I'm getting no air bubbles in the lines, and my float bowls on the two Bing 54s are full.
I believe I got the "stutter out of it last week after replacing the coil and CDI box, but it still reduces in RPM after a few minutes of running full throttle. My EGTs show a tad low at 925 ish, but when I try to reduce the main jet size, it brought the temps up a little, but made the rpms drop more.
I took the engine off and brought it home last week to see if It has points or has been converted. It has been converted and points removed. http://www.rotaryforum.com/forum/picture.php?albumid=319&pictureid=2136 I don't see any timing marks. Does anyone know how to check the timing on this thing?

The rings are clean and free moving and the cylinder walls look smooth with crosshatching still visible.
I used to be an auto mechanic and still turn wrenches, but these two strokes are a bit temperamental. lol
