riddle me this - 503 single ingition

I have a 503 S/N 3641101 produced 06-Nov-1986. Just in the process of rebuilding, she has single ignition. All the documentation (manuals) show dual ignition. So, I am wondering is there an older version of the 503 with single plugs and if so, can I upgrade?
If not, is it possible that I have 447 cylinders (and heads and ignition) if that is even possible. Perhaps we have a new FrankenTax 950 (that is 447+503 for those of you who are math challenged like me :)
First step when I am back at the shop is to measure those cylinders!
