Hello to everyone ...

I'm working with a SCDI 503 purchased in 2000 serial number 5171940. The airplane (Kitfox Lite) and the engine have been sitting unused in a hangar for the last fifteen years and I am thinking I may have to split the crankcase and take a look at the seals and o-rings. I remember a temperature split the last time I flew the airplane in about 2002 or so.

The top end including the rings and grooves, piston pin needle bearings and the connecting rod big-end bearings all look OK with no evidence of moisture or rust. Where do I find information about the torque values, crankcase sealer, etc? Also, is it possible to replace the o-rings on the two center ball bearings without breaking the crank down?

Seems like there should be a repair or overhaul manual someplace but i can't seem to find one. The maintenance manual is pretty superficial and lacks the kind of information I might need. I would be surprised if all the seals and o-rings were still resilient and round in cross section after all these years, so I'm getting myself prepared if I need to go in there re-seal it all up.

Thanks in advance for any comments or information ...

Thing that helped me no end with that kind of stuff was the CPS DVD...The Rotax 447-503 Complete Rebuilding DVD.

With IMHO the best being the one done by Mike Stratmam.
