Hello Everyone,

I just recently switched jobs and my new boss has a J&J Tukan Ultralight that he bought used several years ago and has been sitting in his garage! So, this evening he wanted to try and get it running because he hasn't tried to get it running since he bought it but has had an interest; i.e., he bought supplies to get it running, basically new fuel lines. He and I have knowlegde about two strokes and I cleaned out the bowls and floats, he ran the fuel lines. Overall, the fuel delivery system was in good shape!!

Well, we successfully got it to run, and just more than starting. We were able to throttle it up and keep it running!! He was very excited! Awesome!

The throttle control cable is frozen but along the cable line, not the intake. He asked me to search for a new cable system but I'm coming up with inconsistant info. He is telling me it's a Rotax 503. It has dual carbs and four spark plugs but I can't find info on a system like that?? Is it a two cylinder system with two spark plugs on each cylinder?? Is it a 503 or a 447? No oil injection, pull start. And where is the best place to find parts??

Any info is much appreciated! I know I'm working on a system that is dated but I'm sure someone out there can help! Worse comes to worse, we will work with the cable system on hand. Getting it to run consistantly is half the battle!!
Thanks in advance,
Mark from Ark

Let me add...this is the first time looking at this style of engine. Looking into it more while searching for throttle cable replacements, I had more questions.

Thinking back to what I saw today, it is a two cylinder and I found pictures confirming it is a 503. I also found the section of engine manuals that seems invaluable. Still though, food place for parts?
