I've searched here a few times, followed many old links, checked many aircraft and auto part websites. Didn't find any recent posts that were helpful. I'm looking for clear, stainless or bornze element fuel filter 50 - 100 micron. Based on recommendations and I'd like to be able to easily inspect them before (and look over my shoulder in flight) ro verify they look good. TIA for recommendations.

The 90Micron VisuFilter from LEAF  (Leading Edge Airfoils) is clear for easy inspection and has a polyester (Not Paper) mesh, which is what you want.

    Consider:

    Hengst H102WK, H239WK or H103 WK,

    Baldwin BF7850, BF7725, BF7863, BF9906

These are all automotive disposable transparent gauze filters - if purchasing, be sure you are getting the genuine (not a copy) filter.

I have used both Hengst & Baldwin to good effect.

I took my old one to NAPA auto parts and they matched the existing one. 12 bucks and I replace it every year or so.

    Hi Fred

"my old one" - to what filter do you refer?

"12 bucks" - seems a bit pricey even by Australian dollar standards

Thanks for the suggestions. The filters that came installed on my plane seem to be the clear glass ones like the ones available on Aircraft Spruce site. I like them but there is no micron rating and some reports of the mesh being deteriorated by fuel with ethanol. They have some that look like the ones from LEAF with bronze filter elements but with a 40-70 micron rating and 7 gph flow. Think I'm going to try those. I have one filter inline from each wing tank to a small cylindrical header tank (Superstol 912 ULS).
