Hello,

I am building a Zenith CH701. The wings are complete and all closed up.. When I started the build about 5 yrs ago I was planning an A65 engine but have since acquired a new 912ULS. I do not want to open a wing up to install the return line and wondering about installing perhaps a 1 or 2 gal header tank for the return line. Comments or concerns would be appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi Bob,

Best practise is to return the hot fuel & vapour to a larger /cooler mass of fuel ie a tank. The hot fuel is cooled by the larger mass, much of the vapour condensed back into liquid and any bubbles dissipated/vented, so don't  reenter the fuel system.

I don't have experience of returning to a small (?L) header tank however my Sonex has a 40L (vented) header ( Header: a tank that can only be filled from another) to which my hot fuel is returned. This arrangements seems to work just fine.

If you design your header to meet the objectives, of having a return line, as mentioned above, it should be okay.😈
