Hi Guys,

Im having two Rotax 912, one is UL (80HP) second one is ULS (100HP).
From both engines carbs has been removed, two were sold-two remain.

I want to get this two carbs back to their engine but.. dont know to which engine they belong...
How can I identify the carb type and how do I know to which engine model it was design for>?

Can you tell just from looking details on the outer side of the carb or do I need to take off some parts to take a closer look.

Help?

TNX,

Nir

    Hi Nir,

They are the same carb and jets except for one small difference. The main jet in the UL may be a 155 or a 158. The ULS is just a 155 main jet. The tell will be in the needle. The needle in the UL will be a 2.72 and the ULS will be a 2.70. Open them up and look at the numbers. This info is in the Heavy maint. Manual, section 73-00-00, page28.

    Roger,
There is one other small but signigficant difference.
The diffuser on the 100Hp engine has a cut away & is pressed in place where as on the 80Hp engine the diffuser end is parallel & is a loose fitting. This can easily be seen by opening the butterfly & lifting the carb piston.

Thank you guys for the swift reply!.

I have opened the Carb and saw the number 158 on the main Jet. That means this is the 80HP engine!.

Would love hearing more about how to recognize that without opening the lower case?
What is the butterfly? where is the diffuser ?where the niddle is going in?

    Thanks,
    Nir
