During flight today I had consistant reading of -8 amps (+ or- 1 normal)and voltage in the yellow at 11.4 on the Dynon EMS. I tested the battery upon landing and it read 12.3 volts. Any idea why the low voltage and high Amps? I suspect its a real problem because my transmissions on an installed marine radio that draws a lot of amps when transmitting were not being received. The engione is the 912ULS

    Hi Joseph,

I would start by making sure all grounding bolts are tight. They may be hand tight, but wrench loose. Check each one with a wrench. Remove the main grounding screws or bolts and clean the contacts with some scotch brite pads. Check the battery terminal screws. Most of these issues are just poor contact points, corrosion or loose connections.

Good guess Roger but it turned out to be a bad Ducati regulator (after only 275 hours).

    Hi Joseph,

Glad you found your electrical ghost. The regs. are pretty reliable, but like any thing electrical or mechanical it can fail. Nothing is 100% bullet proof.
Now it's time to go fly. :woohoo:

I have a problem that may be like the one exposed here. A few months ago the low charging light started to be on for a few minutes and that went off. Later, it became on more time and always on on final (low revs) and on taxi. Went off with more revs. Now it stays on sometimes for half an hour and the battery gets weaker. On final the flaps (electrical) take longer to extend and while the electrical engine is running the lights of the propeller (electrical constant speed) flash erroneously. I made the checks described on the last video published on the site and everything looked ok. On the last flight (after the tests) the light was on for a minute (after flying 20min) and then always on after 1:30 hours of flight and for 30 minutes until I landed. Temperatures were ok, everything looked ok except that. After landing the battery had 11,8 V. Do you think it can be the regulator ? Its hard to get a conclusion since the problem appears and disappears without a constant pattern.

    Jose'.

I could be just a bad connection. Remove and clean your main ground connections. Remove the regulator connection and look for corrosion. Apply a little dialectric grease and replace. An intermittant electrical problem can usually be traced to a loose or corroded connection.

    Good Luck
