Dear Forumites

A friend of mine wants to install a 914 on a South-African made Thunderbird ultralight. It is not possible to have the turbo/exhaust installation underneath the engine. I've looked around on the net and couldn't find a single 914 installation where the turbo is on top of the engine. Is that at all possible?

    Predator drone 914 has the turbo on top of the engine (two turbos in the Altus II). its a better place for the turbo to be mounted; you don't need a oil scavenge system or a check valve in the pressure oil side. And all that heat is away from the oil lines etc.
    It will not be easy;
    -the exhaust system has to be designed and built to withstand incredible expansion/contraction and stress.
    -the turbo is heavy and has inertia forces so the brackets must be strong, light and stress relieved.
    Hopefully you have a militia sized budget :cheer:
