I've come across an early 912ul with a couple of things on it that has me confused. First it has a BCD italian fuel pump with three ports. I can't find any info on what the bottom port is used for. One port is form the fuel supply the other is the out port to the carbs but how do you plumb the bottom port? And speaking of ports the carbs both have a port on the bottom of the intake throat. It's not the normal vent line (thats there as well) but its a fitting for a tube on the bottom side of the carb. Other than that them are normal bing 64 carbs. I've had two other 912uls and neither one had these items. Can someone enlighten me?

Thanks,

EG

Most likely the fuel pump has an inlet and pressure out nipple and the bottom third one is only a drain. It just needs a tube routed down to the back end of the cowl, but not in the air stream.
The other port on the carb your are talking about is where some hook up a primer instead of using the chokes. Take a look at the chokes on the side of the carbs and they may not be hooked up.

More info on the BCD (corona) pump drain/vent tube: see SI-912-020 Ch 73-00-00 section 4 (see attached)

As Roger says the ports under the throat of the carbs can be used for a primer (make sure you have atomizer jets installed; they are available at Lockwood)

Or the ports can be used to connect a MAP/vacuum gage. Some folks have a dual MAP gage (from a twin engine aircraft) in their panel to continuously monitor the carb sync and MAP. Nice!
