NGK really never did support aircraft They have had an airplane with a slash through it on their box for a few decades. NGK's have worked fine since the 912 and two strokes have been around. NGK just decide they didn't want the liability anymore. There have a been a few MFG's over the decades that have done the same thing. I'm sure the problem stems more from the thought that in an airplane you can't pull over to the curb.

Be careful here...the ROTAX branded spark plugs can not be changed for gap, only inspected.  See the correct MML, maintenace manual line, for the details.  The NGK have not been sold in new engines since 2017 and technically NGK are no longer approved for flight.  If you are buying aftermarket NGK be aware that they are at your own risk, NGK will not support them in any aircraft applications.

I got my engine (912 ULS) in 2018 and it came with NGKs...  they've been working great.  I just hit 400 hours, with no issues, and have changed out the NGKs every 200 hours (so twice now).  Yah, you usually need to tighten the gaps on new ones just a bit, but changing them costs about $25 for the whole set, vs about that much for a single "Rotax" spark plug.

A couple of reminders about changing spark plugs (of either type).  Always use the special (expensive) heat-transfer paste (not look-alikes like white dilithium grease) and only torque tighten the plugs into a cold engine.
