Rough running engine - 912 100 hp

My 912 has run smooth for 600 hours Yesterday on start-up it ran very rough for about one minute then ran fine - engine almost came out of the engine mounts.
Mags checked good
Compression checked good
Carb syn good
Spark plugs look good
Spark plug gaps good

Any suggestions?

Hi Tony,

You may have had a piece of debris in the carbs that has either shifted out of the way or it went through. You may want to pull the carb bowls and or idle jet for a look.

Yes it could. Have you looked for signs of water in the carb bowls?

Hi Tony

Is it possible your throttle cable jumped out of the adjusting nipple on the carb for a moment.

It is fairly common if the cable is not secured.

Also check your carb rubbers. If they haven't been changed already, they could be split.
