    Hi Denis,

Nothing wrong with mixing 100LL with auto fuel.

Do you know what slot the clip in the carb needle is in? I hope #3 counting down from the top? Let's hope it isn't really detonation or you may have already caused cyl/piston damage, but don't think that way yet.
The choke shouldn't have any affect at 4000 rpm. Almost sounds like you have a vapor lock or fuel starvation. You need to make sure all fuel hoses are in fire sleeve and make sure they are all completely away from any heat source. You may be just cooking the fuel.
830c (1526F) is pretty darn hot for static 4000 rpm.
You need to do a leakdown compression test to check the integrity of the cylinders, pistons and valves on the entire engine and check the carb needle clip position before going any farther too.

This doesn't sound electrical, but something to do with fuel or damage internally.

Hey Dennis, I was watching the video on the ROAN on needle position, and they said if the mag drop was more than 300 rpm to adjust the clip position of the needle of the carbs. Didn't catch if it was because of rich or lean, I would imagine lean, but thats just my guess. I would start at recommended setting and go from there.

    Hi guys,

I had a bad mag drop when one of the rubber diaphragms was slightly dislocated. Just my 2 cents.

    Good luck!
