I'm starting a rubber replacement on my 912 ULS. The original fuel hose is 7mm inside diameter. I can't locate this size hose but have 6.3mm (1/4 inch) inside diameter hose. Would 1/4inch be ok as a replacement hose?

    Hi Neil,

You can use 1/4" and 5/16" hose for your metric fuel hose replacement. If you want the exact stuff call Wurth USA (http://www.wurthusa.com/web/en/website/company/aboutwurthusa/aboutwurthusa.php) and get the exact hose. The US equivalent works just fine. If you need wormdrive clamps these are the people to get them from too, especially if you need any wormdrive type clamps.

Before you do the hose and rubber change it might be helpful to read this article.

I prefer hose that isn't fuel injection hose (unless you had an FI engine). I just use a standard hose meant for a carburetor engine. The fuel injection hose is rated for high psi and has no give going over fittings (i.e. brass barbs) which tends to shave off particles that travel downstream. The carburation hose is still rated for 50 psi well above what we need, but has some give to it. Since most people use brass barbed fittings this makes sliding the hose over those types of fittings easier and doesn't shave any hose lining. A little spit :P makes them slide smoothly on too.

I've got 8mm ID in 2 wing tanks. High wing.
Would 6mm/1/4" be a bit small with regards to a low wing a/c?
Just thinking about vapour lock. The mechanical pump "pulling" through the 6mm hose.

8mm is the equivalent to 5/16". A 1/4" supply line isn't a good choice. Usually 5/16" up to the mechanical pump. Then that short hose out to the fuel distribution block from the pump to the balance tube is 1/4" which is around your 6mm to 6.3mm.
