Leaking carb bowl

    Take a look at Realgaskets.com. They make a silicone rubber gasket that I have used in the past with no leakage issues. They have them for the Bing Carbs on the 912. Give them a call. And by the way they are considerably cheaper and reusable.

    I used them once and ended up with the gasket cracking and bits of silicone gasket got into the main jet.

    I'm not a rubber gasket fan either. Depending on ethanol content it could degrade. It would need to be made out of a Viton material. If you drop one of those gasket in a jar of fuel with 10% ethanol like many use in their planes and it swells badly and or gets really soft (mushy) then it isn't a good match.

    I really think the seating of the gasket really has to be square on. You can easily damage the gasket (esp. the cork style) if you jam it up there and it's not square on. Maybe be order another set of gaskets and try again even if not damaged?

    I have come across some batches of cork style gaskets that were different thickness.

    Make sure the vent hoses are a tight fit to bowl nipple. After time the connection gets loose so I cut a 1/4" off the connection or worn out hose area and then put the hose back on.

    I guess you could say a tiny drop of synthetic grease/lube (non-harmful to rubber) goes a long way for any hose install.
