what is the limit of RPM drop during mag drop/ ignition check of 914F2 engine. what to do if it exceeds the limits? like 300 rpm the limit but it drops to 600 rpm . what could be the possible cause and what could be the rectification.

if it drops more on one mag than the other it is probably the mixture.
put both needles to the 3rd notch and try it again.

It could also be a bad plug or plug wire into the cap. May want to try some new plugs and check the gaps. You may want to try removing the cap. It unscrews and trim the wire back about 3/8" then apply a dab of dielectric grease and screw it back on.

    Dear Wang Shu,
In my Stemme aircraft using Rotax 914 F2 engine when at 4000 eng rpm I switch to R for mag drop check rpm drop about 600 rpm and when I switch to L rpm increase to 200 rpm . I replace all spark plug and given ground run but no improvement observed in rpm., but on the next ground run it becomes within limit automatically with out any further rectification. I am astonished about my aircraft behavior.
(aircraft having history of minor drop tendency of map and rpm (5400 to 5200 rpm) at 100% throttle setting was already in observation.)
I want to understand the phenomena behind
1.why mag drop check at 4000 eng rpm?,
2.what actually cause to drop rpm?
3.Why it is limit to 300 rpm by oem.
4.What is reason behind to drop it to 600 rpm.
5.what could be the cause behind rpm drop more then limit?
    6. How it can be fixed.
    thanks.
