My fuel flow after engine hot sometimes goes to 9-10 gph with warning. Fuel pressure normal and engine sometimes runs rough missing occasionally. I suspect vapor lock but how does that make the fuel flow go up? The sensor is between the pump and the carburetors.

The vapor bubbles will enter the Carburetor much faster than liquid fuel.
This results in the fuel flow in the hose momentarily flowing at 2-3x normal rates.

Consider the results of Air in your house water plumping and what happens at the faucet.
This is a common occurrence when first using a garden hose as the air clears.
