Hi all,

Hope ur Christmas and new years were good.

When I finished my annual, my engine has been running rough ever since. It ran great before the annual. Not sure if it's the whole rpm range but most noticeable around 2500. It seems to smooth out as rpm increase after 2500.

During the annual, I changed the plugs, oil, and installed a vernier throttle then synced the carbs.

I tried:

Rebalanceing the carbs again, they were only out a touch.

Put the new blue floats in since I've read that different float weights (even though they are under 7) can cause this and one if mine was getting heavy again.

Changed from .028 spark plug gap to .022 since it's cold here in northeast pa

Sanded and retightened all the grounds on the cdi, motor, and frame.

Nothing seemed to change it.

No loss of power at all.

At 2000rpms, I put the choke on and it revs up for a second or two then runs even rougher.

The mag check drop 80 on both but seems like it's rougher on the right mag then the left.

Also, I have only flew an hour here and there so my non ethanol fuel is probably a few months old.

Plane has 600 hours

Any thoughts or ideas of what it could be?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Nothing springs immediately to my mind, but you might show it to Paul Shuch over in Lockhaven.  He's sort of a Rotax guru (among other things), and not very far from you.

Damaged spark plug lead, they got removed when you did the plug gaps? Maybe even damages plug from the gap adjustemenf?

    Just thoughts….

    Thx Tyler,

He did my first annual a few years back.

I called and left a message. I try to fix it myself but if he can get me in I'm just gonna have him fix it.

    Thx Byron,

Thought about this but wouldn't the rpm drop be more significant on mag check?

Wanted to update this thread for future searchers.

I believe I found the problem but I'm waiting on some hoes to confirm. A piece of rubber from the balance tube right where I was pinching it off broke off and was stuck in the balance tube.

I think it's a poor practice or maybe it was just bad hose. The last mechanic used a half inch blue hose instead of the black 11 mm rotax hose.
