Magnetic Plug Debris
Greetings,
This might be a repeat. I found this material in the magnetic plug during a 100 hour inspection. Definitely looks like more than 3mm. This engine had a gearbox inspection back in 3/6. Any ideas?
Thank you in advance.

What oil are you using? Oil needs correct additives for heavy shear caused by gears. Use either AeroShell Sport Plus 4 or Mobil1 Racing 4T SAE 10W-40 Advanced Full Synthetic Motorcycle Engine Oil. I use Mobil1 4T and have 800TT with little to no metal particles on magnetic plug...

It appears that there is an excessive amount of material present. Can you please provide information on when the gearbox maintenance was last conducted, including the number of hours since it was done and who performed the maintenance? Additionally, do you know how many hours have passed since the magnetic plug was last inspected? If you are uncertain about your findings, Rotax recommends following these steps:

If there are larger accumulations of metal chips on the magnetic plug, the engine must be repaired or overhauled in accordance with the BRP-Rotax instructions for continued airworthiness.

Gearbox was inspected on 3/4/20230 by me. So far tach shows 64.2 hours since the gearbox inspection. I cut open the filter and its clean, no metal. Last check on the magnetic plug was on 2/28/2023.
