Hello.
The 912/915/916 iS series engine has lanes A and B switches.
Is it possible to start the engine by turning on only one lane?
I want to keep the wiring as simple as possible just for testing on my engine test bench.
Thank you.

You're going to want both active.

I'm new to Rotax, so this might be wrong, but I thought I read that the startup sequence is that the engine is actually started using Lane B, and then once the system is fully energized, running, and checked, engine operations are shifted by the ECU to Lane A. At that point, Lane B is fully operational but not used unless and until errors or problems are detected with Lane A.
tl;dr - I believe you need both Lane A & B for a proper startup sequence.

912iS starting procedure per the Operator Manual attached. Both lanes on.
