I personally think this may be a fuel pump issue that is possibly related to the recent ASB issued for the 912iS.  The ASB calls for the "replacement of fuel pump assy. for ROTAX® Aircraft Engine Type 915 i A and 912 i (Series)."

I initially checked my pump serial number when it was first issued and was not in the range requiring replacement; however, after reading further the ASB states: "Possible effects might be rough engine running, unusual engine operating behavior and possible power reduction or engine stoppage."

I called Lockwood and they said the repair kits are expected to ship on the 16th. They put me on the list. I'm #61.

I downloaded the error logs today and sent them to Lockwood for translation.  I'll post my findings here.

I agree.  Another theory is there could be a problem during the switch over to the generator.  Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot that?

Spoke to another 912iS expert today and they offered the same hypothesis and a way to test for it.  They suggested starting the engine using the backup battery only.  This bypasses the ECU's safety check of the 2nd generator.  If it starts without issue there could be a wiring problem.  He advised checking the 4-pin plugs and all associated wiring.  If damaged, there will be noticeable discoloration.  I plan to try this tomorrow.

Tried the recommendation of starting the engine on the backup battery today.  Same result.  Start, ran for 2 seconds, then quit.  Back to the drawing board.

Still experiencing start then stop but lately it seems to struggle to turn over on the first cold start of the day.  In fact, both lane lights will illuminate once the start button is pressed.  If I held the start button in, it would start then stop with both lane lights on.  If I release the start button before it starts and then try again, it will start and run with no lane lights on.  Any idea on what this is?  I'll try to capture a video next time.
