915 Eurofox Bad First Start of the Day

I've experienced that, too. If you look at the start procedure in the Rotax 915iS Operators Manual, regarding starter engagement, it says, "The connection must persist until the engine speed exceeds 1500 rpm." In your video, it looks like you let go of the start button at just over 500 rpm. I know must of us are conditioned to release the starter as soon as the engine fires up, but the Rotax OM seems to indicate we should keep the starter engaged longer.
I recently started doing that for my cold starts, and it works! I know it feels unnatural to keep holding the starter as the engine has started to fire up, but I keep it held until it gets through that "rough" part (500 - 800 rpm) and then release it once the engine accelerates beyond that.

Thanks Mike - I always thought it strange that the manual says to keep the starter engaged until the engine is at least at 1500rpm as the starter can’t turn it anywhere near as fast as that, but maybe it just needs a little extra help to get it to pick up speed properly, so we will try that !
Because of the sprag clutch it can’t do any harm to keep the starter engaged once the engine is running, unlike a conventional benefit starter.
