My 915iS installation includes a K&N RC-4570 air filter on the turbo intake. While I was cleaning and oiling my air filter a local A&P told me that there are “DryFlow” (oil-free) versions which he says are great. Cleaning and oiling the filter is easy, but having an oil-free one really cuts down on the drying time. Any reason why I shouldn't replace the original K&N filter with an oil free version, like this one? (AEM is owned by K&N.)

(I'm also reaching out to my airframe manufacturer, but just curious if anyone here has experience with oil-free air filters on turbo Rotax installations.

My Rotax 915 also came with a K&N filter.  I wasn’t overjoyed about that as I would never use a K&N in any of my land vehicles.  I have seen too many tests on them that show they are fairly poor filters compared to OEM style paper element filters.  I’d much rather have an auto style airbox with a disposable paper element filter.

Then again, an airplane sees almost entirely clean air as compared to a car, truck or motorcycle, so I doubt filter efficiency is nearly as big a deal.  The AEM filer looks interesting as it would be a little less messy than the traditional K&N filter.  I am also curious to see if anyone here has experience with them.
