Turbocharging 912ULS

I'm new to the forum, so not sure if this the right place to ask. I am looking at buying an aircraft with a 912ULS with a turbocharger fitted by the aircraft manufacturer. This increases the power from 100hp to 135hp. By all accounts people flying these engines have no issues at all, they are reaching normal TBO etc. Can anyone offer advice on potential pitfalls, etc. The aircraft I'm looking at will have a new engine.

Can you use the extra nose weight? I added a front ski and needed weight on the tail.

To be clear

912ULS is 100HP with carbs

914 is 100 w turbo to 115HP

the 915 goes higher maybe the 135

edge performance does a 914 w EFI that goes to 125HP I believe

That would be ideal, but the aircraft already has the 912 ULS turbo installed.

A good engine developer I knew always said that stock engines come with a reasonable factor of safety margin and getting up to 25% more power out of them is not too hard and does not compromise durability too much.

in the 80's ? BMW would turbo stock engines for racing and double the power but longevity was compromised a lot !

I would expect that so long as full boost is only used for TO and less than a couple of minutes then used as "turbo normalising" at altitude then they should last pretty well...but perhaps not to TBO....

Then again how many of us will fly 2000 + hours as recreational pilots
