Hi all,

Recently got another 912, and it has the typical light rust coat over the prop flange. Wondering if anyone has used Corrosion X rust remover on it. Heavy maintenance manual calls for removal and bead blasting, which ain’t happening. Would like to try and lightly remove without removal before corrosion prevention applied.

Thanks in advance.

It might work. Try it on a small section first.

I too have been looking into corrosion protection for my 912 IS.

There are some very informative you tube videos on this subject but would like to hear what Rotax factory recommend or advice from forum members.

Having spoken to a few AMO's they all have their own  preferred methods.

I am looking at the following:

    1. Using Prepsol product to remove salt , dirt, grease etc from surface, then wait 10 mins before using light water spray to remove residue.

    Once dry...

    2. Light spray application of either ACF 50 or CorrosionX for Aviation. This will leave a fine but effective protection on the engine and accessories

    Any advice or recommendations appreciated...

Corrosion X is easily the best for corrosion protection

Corrosion-X is good, but it stays wet and will fling around. For the past 24 years I have been using Boeing T9. I used it on my dive compressors in saltwater and they never corroded. It sprays on wet, but dries quickly. It has a paraffin base. This was made for the Boeing aircraft company to stop corrosion from the start.

Either will work, but I prefer T9 because it dries and stays where you spray it.

I believe Corrosion-X and Boeing T9 are rust prevention products, not intended for rust removal. I would first use a rust removal product and then apply the T9 or Corrosion-X.
