I would like to do cross country travel and would like to know if 100 LL is acceptable. As you know, most airports only offer 100LL.

21D is where I'm based and they only offer 100LL. We have a few local service stations that offer ethanol-free fuel at an increased cost. This is what I have been feeding the 503.

Thank you for your assistance.

    Hi Gerry,

Take your cross country and have fun and don't worry. You can go on a website called "Airnav" and put in a route and then have it look for Mogas and maybe you may find a few in your route you didn't know about.Go on a forum of friends in your route and maybe they can bring some Mogas out to the field for you. You can use the 100LL if you want and can mix Mogas and 100LL if you top off somewhere. I do agree that I would prefer not to use 100LL, but on cross country trips your kind of stuck. Get a lead scavenger like Decalin from Aircraft Spruce. You use 1/2 oz. per 10 gal. It will help keep the lead softened up and blown out the exhaust. It isn't a cure all, but it does help. Since you rarely use 100LL it shouldn't be a big leading problem over the life of the engine. I don't know how long your trip is and the plugs should be just fine, but having a spare set on hand wouldn't hurt.
