Budget for servicing

Like you - not advising/recommending just telling my story.

Also like you, I do 50hr oil changes BUT my oil filter goes the full 100hrs. Rational;

Rotax Oil Filters -

Not cheap at about x 3 the price of similar looking spin on automotive oil filter.

Rotax advise 100 hr filter change, with no intermediate oil change. If the filter is good for 100 hrs, with 100 hr oil, then it must be easily able  to perform to 100 hrs, with a 50 hr oil change.

Back to the 5 year rubber replacement;

Like you, all my, non hose, rubber components are Rotax supplied.

As with most Rotax installations, your Coolant Radiator Hose will probably not be supplied by Rotax - the door, to alternative suppliers, is now open.

The Rotax hose part numbers, you referred to, are just type (oil/fuel/coolant) & ID references. Its your responsibility to order the correct lengths of each - Not much different to purchasing a reputable automotive brand (meet.exceed Rotax specifications) at a fraction of the RoTax cost.

Sparkplugs;

My engine, at 200hrs, is still using the Rotax supplied multi electrode type. When we hit 400 hrs, I will consider reverting to the the NKg's (as used in my previous 912ULS).

While cost of parts, is for me, always a consideration, whats more important is the principal - why pay more for the same functional product when you don't have to.

Its not like I am doing anything out of the ordinary. Rotax have done a  good job, in converting owners to by Rotax products but remember its only a short while ago, that we were using Rotax recommended automotive oils & spark plugs and most of use will be sourcing our Coolant & Radiator hose, hose clamps, etc from automotive suppliers.😈
