My question relates to the best fuel for the Rotax 912 in my newly purchased 2008 LSA. Locally I have access to 91 octne (using the R-M/2 method)WITH 10% ethanol or 87 octane ETHANOL FREE, again using the R-M/2 method. Which is better for the performance and care of my Rotax?

    Hi Herbert,

Providing your fuel tanks are okay with the ethanol the 91 oct. unleaded auto fuel is without a doubt better than 100LL.If you don't have to use 100LL don't. Most though have to use 100LL when they travel and most that use 91 oct. bring it to the field. Few airports have 91 oct. on field. Some have Mogas which is 87 oct.

The 912ULS needs 91 oct. or higher.
The 912UL can use 87 oct. or higher.
Yes you can mix 100LL and 91 oct. if you needed to.
