The Lamp in the cabin from the Rectifier-regulator does not work. I have tried all. I have installed new Rectifier-regulator and new Lamp and new cable with new connections from lamp to the regulator.

But it does not work as it should. When you turn the starter key it should show light until the engine has started and began to load the battery. It does not show any light at all. So i do not know if the alternator works.

Where else could one look or check???????

The engine is Rotax 912UL and it starts well and all motorinstruments on electricity works.

Does this mean that there is som malfunction in the Alternator?? Or does the Alternator have nothing to do with the Lamp and the Alternator should function well??

It is a different system than the conventional alternator. It is actually a generator and it will produce AC volts whenever the engine is running: it does not need to be excited. The warning lamp is activated whenever one of the wires becomes a ground and the other has voltage: with the engine running the regulator has 12v at the one lamp wire and the battery has 12v so the lamp goes out. if the generator fails the regulator then becomes a ground so the lamp comes on.
Sorry, Have to run, maybe Conrad or Roger can explain it better than this.

OK, thanks. I checked my (new) battery with a CTEC charger, and it was fully charged. So the generator seems to charge the battery.

I am only confused why the lamp do not lit up AT ALL when i turn the starter key and the current comes on to the system.

Earlier it ALWAYS lit up when i turned on the starter key and then it went dark after i got the engine running thus showing that the generator charged the battery as it should.

As i said i have tried all. New rectifier regulator, new wires to the lamp and new lamp. I have also thoroughly scraped all the contacts in the rectifier regulator.

1-check that the "L" terminal on the regulator has continuity to ground with the engine stopped. No? then it is a regulator problem.
2-check the "L" terminal has approx 12 volts with engine running. No? also regulator problem.
3-check the other wire (not the wire from the "L" terminal) for the lamp has approx 12 volts with the master switch on. NO? wiring to lamp is wrong or broken wire/connection (this wire should not go to ground)

I had that problem once, I cleaned the connections at the regulator and the problem disappeared , :) light on with engine not running.

I have had this problem two times in the last 2-1/2 years. Where my Gen. indicator light would go off. Telling me that my generator was not charging. Sometimes it would come on then turn off again. In my airplane if the Gen. indicator light is off then my generator is not putting the charge to my battery. My battery voltage would continue to drop. Both times it was the voltage regulator that was faulty.
