Hi All, I just completed the installation
Of Rotax SB-057 for extended TBO.
This consists of a new style plug, a shim, new spring and bullet head instead
Of 8mm ball. My oil pressure was 70psi.
I contacted Lockwood and they recommended removing the shim which
I did. Now oil pressure is normal. I don't
See the need for this SB.

Any comments Roger?

    Hi Bob,

We care more about volume and not as much pressure. Remove the shim. 70 is too high to be there all the time. Normal is around
    42-55 psi.

    p.s.
Oil pressure senders are notorious for being off some.

    Good Morning Roger,
I did what you recommended oil pressure
Is 50 psi. Why the need for the SB 057?

    Thanks , Bob

    Hi Bob,

50 psi is good to go.
The issue was with the shortened shoulder on the oil plug screw. It allowed the spring to bend and rub against the case wall and it affected the oil pressure. The taller shouldered plug screw and the stem on the oil pressure mushroom prevents this.

Please note the mushroom is not a required part for SB-912-057! you are only required to replace the plug screw and spring.

Hi, I haven't heard anything about using only the plug and spring for SB-057. I am
Satisfied with the results I achieved using
The plug, new spring & mushroom. Oil
Pressure is up a bit and steady at 57psi
    Hot.

    Thanks for input,
    Regards, Bob
