Fuel return line

What size and type fuel line is recommended to use with the 956312 Hose Nipple 3/4 supplied on my Rotax 912 ULS? Also what does the "3/4" mean in the part designation?

    5/16" I.D. hose
    Not sure what the 3/4 means but the IPC lists a lot of specifications such as DIN numbers so it is probably something like that. It has no relationship to hose size.
