I have an aging Shorai LFX18 battery in my REMOS. I'm thinking about replacing it with a Shorai LFX36 which will fit in the original battery box. What's the down side (other than cost and weight) with putting in a higher rated battery? Would there be a problem with the Rotax charging system?

    Hi Ernie.

    It's been a while.
The battery may have more cranking amps, but the voltage is the same.,

    Ernie,

Have you considered EarthX rather than Shorai? They are now making aircraft specific batteries that have some real advantages over other manufacturers. The advantages are primarily control (redundant BMS) and monitoring (built in fault monitoring). I believe they are a safer choice. You can find more info on their website--experimental aircraft page. They claim that Rotax has fully approved their use, if that matters.
