    Hi Roger,
Well I removed the primer pump today and hooked up a temporary cable to the starting carb/enrichment on the Bings for a test today and flew the plane for .7 hours. After allowing about 20 mins. For heat soaking I did a restart and it started fine, so maybe that does indeed help but the problem is that it did not happen every time so more testing to follow. I have committed to the change and have ordered a new cable to get it setup. I have not changed the gap on the plugs yet, thinking I will change one thing at a time. My plan is to use a mix of fuels until I am sure that the problem is resolved.

    Hi Paul,
Hopefully all will be good. The plugs gap should be changed even if the hard starting goes away.

    Hi Roger,
I have some iridium plugs coming and will gap them to your recommendations before I install them.

A hot 912 does not like to start. I have tried all the tricks mentioned here - and more. You will find some discussions on the internet on this problem.

What works for me - every time - is to pop a fan (I bought a 12V so called "bilge fan", see boat supply on ebay) into the oil control flap and blow fresh air over the engine for 15 minutes.
