There is a letter M in front of the number

Ah... "M" are usually older. Looking through the ancient paper records of the North American distributor, there is a gap covering that serial number range.

It's very possible it is a snowmobile engine. Or it might just have come through one of the European distributors (we have no way of checking data for older engines from Europe)

Our 'best guess' is it could be around 1999 vintage (but we cannot say for sure...)
