Hi, Its time to replace my radiator hoses. Has anyone used the flexable type, seems easier than sorting through various hoses to find the right bends to use. The ridges is some of the larger dia ones could cause flow issues? I have found silicon ones that have a smooth inner too but in small dia (16mm only.

Cheers Dom

    Hi Dorn,

the rubber type hoses specified are pretty flexible. When talking water circuit there are few sections that come as pre-bend piece (some 90 degrees), the rest is cut from a roll in meters. To save some time and money you could order the formed sections through official dealers and source a couple of meters of hose elsewhere. Mind you the 17mm spec hose from the manual does not seem to be available everywhere. 16mm and 18mm are used in cars, highly available and comparatively cheap. Make sure the material you buy fulfills the temp spec of 130C (not just 100C). In case you go for 18mm you must make sure to use clamps that ensure a close fit. The hose can easily be cut to size with a cutter blade, no big deal.

I recently chased 17mm ID hoses with no succes and opted for 18mm. When I received a 90 degrees bend (which is specified being 17mm ID) I found it to really have 15 to 16mm ID only (but it fits nicely). After the whole replacement our water cooling seems to work better than before. In my opinion propperly temp-speced car hoses are an option.

    Regards

    Peter

Thanks for info Peter. Do you know if the ribbed flexi hoses adversely affect flow ?

I've got ribbed, flex hoses... they haven't been a problem in 350 hours.
