Benefits of ROTAX Engine Registration

Written by

It is essential for all ROTAX aircraft engine owners to ensure that their engine is registered online.

Registering your engine links your Rotax product with warranty services, proof of ownership, recall notifications and bonus campaigns. Warranty coverage not only protects your engine - it protects your wallet.

This central online paperless engine registration process offers various advantages for Rotax aircraft engine owners.

First of all, it is very important for BRP-Rotax to get to know their customers and their engines in operation. This allows to optimize the distribution and service network according to customer's needs. With our modern reality of global supply chain disruptions, an accurate real-time view of all engines in the field is essential for the timely planning and fulfillment of spare parts supplies.

Another advantage is that in case of a reported engine theft, a re-registration of this engine is impossible.

Please note that when a new and unused engine is purchased from a ROTAX® authorized Aircraft Engines distributor or their independent Service Centers, that the engine owner must register the engine on the ROTAX website within 30 days of purchasing the engine. This is a requirement for warranty coverage; please refer to the service letter "Warranty conditions for ROTAX® Aircraft Engines".

If you purchase a used ROTAX aircraft engine that is still within its warranty coverage period, the warranty (and any ROTAX CARE extended warranty, if applicable) shall be transferred and shall be valid for the remaining coverage period, provided that the engine was properly registered online as described in the document above. You (the new owner) are then required to re-register the engine online, without delay.

ROTAX 912 FUEL PUMPS

From the September 2018 issue of Sport Aviation / Experimenter magazine, a look at the Fuel Pumps used on the Rotax 912 engine.

In between each LSRM (Light Sport Repairman Maintenance) class, we usually spend a considerable amount of time upgrading our curriculum. For some time now, we have had a desire to rewrite the curriculum surrounding the fuel pumps used on the Rotax 912. For many years the fuel pump issue was a hot topic in class. There had been a significant number of problems related to the mechanical fuel pumps.

Many of the problems were created by the operators, but a few were obviously related to the design of the fuel pump. As a result, around 2013, Rotax issued service bulletin SB-912-063 (Replacement of fuel pumps). This began the introduction of the 3rd generation of fuel pumps, (part numbers 893114, and 893115).

Gunskirchen, Austria, July 19th, 2021 – BRP-Rotax announced that it will stop the production of the legendary 2-stroke Rotax 582 UL aircraft engine by end of 2021. This decision has been taken considering the nearly full transition of the light and ultralight aircraft market towards 4-stroke aircraft engines.

ROTAX has just released a new state-of-the art online engine configuration tool. Using this tool, you can load an accurate 3D model of a current production engine, and experiment with all the various configuration options. The model can be rotated and zoomed on-screen, and as you change the various options, the total weight of the engine is updated and displayed in realtime! When you have it configured just as you like it, you can then email yourself a link to download a PDF of the configuration (and optionally you can pass it to ROTAX to have your local authorized ROTAX dealer follow up on it with you.)

ROTAX Carburetor Floats Identification

Written by

A new version of carburetor floats (Part number 861189) has been introduced for Rotax® Engine Type 912, 914 and 2-stroke (Series).

Experts agree that a used aircraft should be inspected by a qualified technician before negotiating the final selling price. Even if you are a mechanically inclined pilot, the excitement of buying an aircraft can cause people to get caught up in the emotions and can lead to missed mechanical, cosmetic and safety issues during visual inspections and test flights. There is a lot to consider when inspecting an aircraft: the FAA has published the comprehensive Advisory Circular AC 43.13-1B which weighs in at 646 pages!

We have produced a video segment in which we cover important information you need to know when doing a pre-purchase inspection on a Rotax powered aircraft. (You can CLICK THIS LINK to view the final inspection report.)

Watch our Rotax 912ULS powered Kitfox V Pre-Buy inspection video to follow along as we cover the WHY, WHO, and HOW regarding a pre-purchase inspection for your Rotax powered aircraft!
