I finally pulled my ultralight out and did the troubleshooting on my 503 DCDI ignition.  One pick-up trigger has frayed wires and the other's wire were broken off.  Been researching them and the prices are much higher than what my budget can cover, especially with the issues of 2020, and no used ones are to be had.  Anyway on to the question.  Are the pick-up assemblies to fit Ducati Twin Models with Kokusan Denki Ignition PA-08 units from Electrix World Limited the same, or a exact substitute, for the Rotax pick-ups?  Nowhere can I find the specs for the Rotax pick-ups to compare.  I am praying someone with electrical knowledge or even experience with this can guide me.  Not really in a huge hurry as I am still taking care of issues around here due to the recent storms which also put a dent in our pocket book...

While one Pickup is still working, I recommend getting an Ohm reading while you still can.

The PA-08 might be made to work; the first problem I see is that the 08 is a two wire device and the Rotax part has ony one wire.
Grounding the second wire will probably make it work if the physical demensions match.

If you have the skill set; try digging out some of the potting compound around the broken wire and solder a new wire to the stump.
Fill and Fillet the new wire with epoxy and you may be able to restore your existing coils.
You have nothing to lose in the attempt.

That I can do.   Are the Ohm's the same on each trigger and what reading should I look for?  Thanks...

I would assume thay are the same and the only difference between the two are the length of the connection wires.
The P8 you are looking at  is 460 Ohms but a note I found states that the original Rotax coils are ~100 Ohms.
So somwhere in the 100-500 ohm range would be expected.
I have a gut feeling that nearly anything that is a physical dimension match might just work.

Measuring from the wire to the mounting plate should produce a reading.

I do thank you.  While I have no understanding of electrical stuff, I can read a meter and solder small wires.  If the Mrs doesn't come up with something for me to do tomorrow I will remove the triggers and bench test them.  Get descent readings, I'll try soldering the wires up and coat the exposed areas with JB Weld.

    That sounds like a plan!
Please let us know how it all works out.
