Most every "E" gear box that I've ever seen has the gear ratio stamped or laser etched into the outer cover. 2.62, 3.00, 3.47, or 4.00. If there is no identifying marks on the outside the gear box, you could always pull the outer cover and divide quantity of large gear teeth by quantity of small teeth to reach the gear ratio.
